Voice and video-chat now in GMail It's getting more and more important to be using Google Gears. Why? Because almost every new feature Google releases only works if you have Google Gears installed. No Gears, no fun. Soon Google will be controlling all of our communication. The newest addition to the Gears-family is voice- and videochat. Google introduced this feature last night. The feature let's you talk and use your webcam wjhen chatting with your contacts. With this feature Google makes a final attempt to get a foot in between services like MSN Messenger and Skype. Google focusses on the business to business market with this feature. With that it hopes to get Skype users to switch to Google. Having videochat available in your browser and within your e-mail is a unique feature. No other provider has got this feature built in. After Google Docs, GMail and GTalk this is yet another feature which will get people to use Google Tools for business purposes. Together with the Android phone you can now handle almost all your business communication through Google. Though it's not clear what Google stores from all your communication...  To activate your talk- and videochat function you just open up a conversation within GMail. You then can add the feature through the "options" button in your chat screen. You will then be redirected to a help-page where you can set up your preferences.
