Google ads 30 Dutch cities to Streetview

Google Streetview is slowly but surely capturing all of Europe. In the Netherlands the service was launched in March with 'only' big cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Groningen. Now they've added over 30 cities and surrounding areas.

Google has paid extra attention to the 'special places', the historical ones, like the Binnenhof, where the Dutch Parliament is seated, and Kinderdijk, where windmills are placed. These two places are also the first ones shot by the Streetview Trike.

There are only a few images shot by the Streetview Trike available. Google is working on getting the other ones in there too, but hasn't set a date for that yet.

In their press release Google pays extra attention to the privacy issues. At the launch of the Dutch Streetview in March there was lots of rumor about faces of people showing up in Streetview. Google stresses it has done extra work to blur the pictures and that everyone can request for images to be taken down from Streetview.

Google also gave away some interesting or funny facts about the 'making of' Streetview Netherlands. Turns out the biggest problem in the Netherlands was… the weather...
