Do an Extreme Google MakeoverWhen I was first pointed to Google, about ten years ago, one thing that immediately was 'refreshing' and new was the empty homepage. It was all about search, and nothing more. Ten years later Google again has hardly changed. We posted an overview of ten years of homepages a while ago and Google itself also has a good timeline. Apparently the guys at WebMynd are fed up with the design. They've launched a contest to do an extreme Google makeover: RedesignGoogle.com.
Off course the contest is a very nice linkbait, but there is a little bit more to it what makes it more interesting. Webmynd has developed a browser plugin. With that you can change your search page and add features like adding several search engines, sharing options AND a new look and feel. The last feature will help you implement the 'new design' you ad yourself or someone else has. The contest has started today and submissions can be done until November 1st. The winner will be rewarded with a Macbook Air. You can use the CSS editor Webmynd has developed so you only have to make a stylesheet. Some already have entered the contest, to give you an idea of the designs already submitted: ![]() ![]() ![]()
