Google naming blogs in news, but what's a blog?

Fri 18 September 2009 09:03, Bas van den Beld

In interesting find yesterday by WebProNews. It seems as if Google is explicitly 'naming' blogs in Google News. When searching for specific terms Google puts (blog) next to the publications name.

The results are mixed together in Google News, kind of like universal, but get a specific mention of 'blog'. It is not everytime however a blog gets this 'stamp', the system doesn't seem to work properly yet.

Google naming blogs in news, but what's a blog?

It looks like a test from Google on this issue. Webpronews rightfully poses the question: what is classified as a blog?
