SMX London 'upgrades to SMX Advanced'

In only two weeks time in London Search Marketing Expo London starts. SMX has taken the 'more advanced' road ever since it started but now has decided to make it all a litlle bit more advanced.

This Monday SMX decided to change the program considerably. No less than seven sessions were cancelled. The reason for the cancellation of the sessions is that the organization has noticed "much more interest in our advanced sessions than our SMX Boot Camp sessions".

The following tracks have been cancelled:

Day 1:
Keyword Research Tools & Techniques
Fundamentals of Search Advertising
Link Building Fundamentals
Search Engine Friendly Web Design

Day 2:
Ecommerce Search Marketing Tactics
Search Marketing & Surviving A Recession
What's New In Mobile Search

Look at the updated program here.

So what does this mean? Is this a sign the conference is not doing well? No, I don't believe so. The conference is sharpening. And that makes it only an even more interesting event to attend.

At most of the events I visit I rarely learn something new. Most of the topics discussed I've already read about online. A conference does give inspiration and makes you think about certain topics and hand you the angle you need to 'break through barriers'. An advanced event however has got a lot more to offer so you can learn a lot more.

I think the decision by the organizers is a good decision. It will lift up the level of the conference.

One thing is sad though. Because of the cancellation one of my own sessions got cancelled. I was going to talk about how to adress online media when linkbuilding, something I think even advanced marketeers can do better than they do. Too bad that got cancelled. But I will speak about that more often I suspect. Besides that I will still be speaking on the session "Searchscape: Latest Stats About The Search Engines" on Monday morning.

Do you want to be at the "advanced" SMX London? Be sure to register. Searchcowboys is offering you a 15% discount!
