Baidu Open Platform – Open Data

Baidu open platform has been launched in August 2010，including open data, open application, open mobile, etc. This platform is based on the calculation of box computing, which provides the open data-sharing and joint platform. In this article, I will only introduce Baidu Open Data to you.

The purpose for Baidu to set Open Data up is to be more competitive in its information providing, such as real estate, recruitment, and travelling. Webmasters and developers can submit their data to Baidu’s Open Data Platform. Once approved, their data will be displayed on Baidu search page (see below). Later, Baidu keeps on adding new functions trying to build itself as an authorized information platform.

Form the screenshot shown above, users can find all kinds of information relating to the search term"travel in Shanghai" easily, such as public transportation, travel review, tourist attractions. All information is eye-catching and on top ranking.

Another advantage is that it is user friendly. Users not to need to click into the site, but can check small information on the search result, such as check the phone number for customer service. See below:

The information you can submit is restricted: customer service, software download, TV program, online shopping, EMS services, etc. For those who want to direct reach the potential customers, open data can be a good idea.
